I'm standing there in my kitchen, trying to remind Grey of the drinks we've left cooling on the counter, but I can't quite fish out the words as he reaches up and touches my jaw. For long, painful seconds, all I can think of is the last person who cradled me like this, who watched my face with quiet understanding. I miss Tobias. I miss Christina and Uriah and knowing who I was. Maybe it had been an illusion of understanding, but it had been something.

I stare at Grey now, feeling like I'm on the precipice of something dangerous.

Whatever she wants. He nods toward her - however they touch is good, then, perhaps they can take a bath. What does she want? He'll do anything he can for her.

I want his closeness, however it's given. Laying back, I pull him over me before nodding to my nightstand, where I've put a box of condoms. "DO we need those?"

They might.

To be prepared, Grey pulls open the drawer and pulls out the box.

They won't talk about the first time they'd used these things. He'd broken two not understanding how they worked.

But then he'd figured it out.

For now, though, he lies over her, kissing her again.

I'd laughed at the time while we both fumbled our way through it. Now, we understand. I arch my back and pull my blankets aside, pretending as if I had no idea it would push our hips together.

The movement gets a gasp from Grey. They both still have their jeans on, and he braces himself on his hands to kiss down her body, urging down her bra straps as he goes.

I smile and shrug my shoulders, helping them fall faster while I reach out, trying to unbutton his jeans. Unfortunately, coordination has become more difficult.

It's all right; he can do that, kicking the denim off his legs, letting it fall aside. He's naked again and unself-conscious as he pulls her bra away, too.

He's found he loves her breasts, cupping them, leaning down to nuzzle his face there.

I laugh a little, enjoying the warmth of his breath, the scrape of his stubble. As he kisses, I wiggle my hips a little and kick my own jeans off.

That prompts him to lean back and take her all in.

Beautiful: strong and soft all at once.

Leaning up again, he kisses his way up her belly to her breasts, to her mouth.

I smile into the kiss, shuffling a litle ways back on the bed so I'm not just hanging off the edge.

I want him.

He wants her too. And she can feel it as he nestles between her legs. The kisses change, then, grow deeper, more breathless.

I can feel his want. That pressure, the growing hardness that I feel, used to frighten me. Now I welcome it.

Even as they kiss and touch, Grey can feel his hips rock, can feel how they can and will move together.

After who knows how many moments, he reaches over for the box, pulling out a small square package.

I nod, beckoning him closer with a kiss, letting him know how much I crave his touch as well. After my fear earlier with the knife, this is a balm and a relief.

He never meant to scare her, truly. It was just how he'd grown up on the train. Risk for potential reward.

Even as he rips open the packet, he moves to kiss her again, softly, sweetly.

As he kisses me, I twist away a little, casting off what little clothing I've got left and then urging him closer.

Holding one of her hands, Grey takes his time to kiss her all over: shoulders, breasts, hips, even knees and elbows.

They tickle and I can't help laughing, tracing my fingertips over the shape of him again and again. I tease a little, the way he's teasing me, catching at one of his nipples and watching his face.

His breath catches and Grey arches his back; that feels as if it's sending tingles right between his legs.

His reaction, the way he arches to it, is gratifying and I can't help grazing my nails down his chest. I can tease him too.

Grey shudders at that, his eyes dark on hers. He knows she can feel the jerk of his erection against her thigh.

I can and I nod to him. We both want this, can feel it across our skins. I kiss him again, enjoying the hunger in his look.

Sitting back on his haunches, Grey rips open the packet and pulls out the latex disk. His gaze flicks to Tris's and he very nearly smiles. The moment of truth.

I laugh gently, smiling at him and nodding. "First try," I say.

First try.

Grey carefully unrolls the latex, pulling it down himself.

It still feels strange, but at least he doesn't break it.

That's when he can crawl over her again and kiss her.
