I'm standing there in my kitchen, trying to remind Grey of the drinks we've left cooling on the counter, but I can't quite fish out the words as he reaches up and touches my jaw. For long, painful seconds, all I can think of is the last person who cradled me like this, who watched my face with quiet understanding. I miss Tobias. I miss Christina and Uriah and knowing who I was. Maybe it had been an illusion of understanding, but it had been something.

I stare at Grey now, feeling like I'm on the precipice of something dangerous.

As we get closer, I turn around to kiss him, enjoying the warmth that spread over my skin from the closeness. I trust him.

She has every reason to trust him: Grey would kill for her, die for her if the need arose.

Now, though, he kisses her, liking very much how she felt, how she tasted.

It makes me tug him a little closer, reveling in the warmth and comfort. I've been to the pharmacy again, gotten anything we might need for whatever we want to do.

Even as he holds her close, Grey reaches for the hem of her shirt, tugging it over her head and away. Then, they can be skin to skin.

Tris is as warm as he is; she feels good.

The growing cold outside makes the heat of his skin all the better. As I raise my arms, I giggle a little, just feeling light and happy. Carefree.

By now, he knows her sensitive spots and Grey smiles as he tickles her, just over her ribs.

I laugh when he does that. To be honest, I laugh a lot more with Grey than I have without. It feels good, being happy and not worrying about living up to any rules or ideals but my own.

Her laughter is musical and it warms Grey's chest. He kisses her forehead, her cheeks and finally, that mouth.

I pull him backward, over me and toward the bed. Slowly, I skate my hand up his chest and trace the tattoos I've already memorized.

Some of the words apply to her, others don't. But in this moment, Grey's attention is entirely on Tris as he perches over her. By leaning back on his haunches, he can trace fingers along her skin: her arms, her stomach, up and over the material of her bra.

I'm not scared or jumpy now, not the way I was the first few times we were close like this. I know the feeling of Grey's fingers, the warmth of his touch and how he kisses me.

"What do you want to do, today?"

Whatever she wants. He nods toward her - however they touch is good, then, perhaps they can take a bath. What does she want? He'll do anything he can for her.

I want his closeness, however it's given. Laying back, I pull him over me before nodding to my nightstand, where I've put a box of condoms. "DO we need those?"

They might.

To be prepared, Grey pulls open the drawer and pulls out the box.

They won't talk about the first time they'd used these things. He'd broken two not understanding how they worked.

But then he'd figured it out.

For now, though, he lies over her, kissing her again.

I'd laughed at the time while we both fumbled our way through it. Now, we understand. I arch my back and pull my blankets aside, pretending as if I had no idea it would push our hips together.

The movement gets a gasp from Grey. They both still have their jeans on, and he braces himself on his hands to kiss down her body, urging down her bra straps as he goes.

I smile and shrug my shoulders, helping them fall faster while I reach out, trying to unbutton his jeans. Unfortunately, coordination has become more difficult.

It's all right; he can do that, kicking the denim off his legs, letting it fall aside. He's naked again and unself-conscious as he pulls her bra away, too.

He's found he loves her breasts, cupping them, leaning down to nuzzle his face there.

I laugh a little, enjoying the warmth of his breath, the scrape of his stubble. As he kisses, I wiggle my hips a little and kick my own jeans off.

That prompts him to lean back and take her all in.

Beautiful: strong and soft all at once.

Leaning up again, he kisses his way up her belly to her breasts, to her mouth.

I smile into the kiss, shuffling a litle ways back on the bed so I'm not just hanging off the edge.

I want him.

He wants her too. And she can feel it as he nestles between her legs. The kisses change, then, grow deeper, more breathless.

I can feel his want. That pressure, the growing hardness that I feel, used to frighten me. Now I welcome it.

Even as they kiss and touch, Grey can feel his hips rock, can feel how they can and will move together.

After who knows how many moments, he reaches over for the box, pulling out a small square package.

I nod, beckoning him closer with a kiss, letting him know how much I crave his touch as well. After my fear earlier with the knife, this is a balm and a relief.
